Emirates Abruptly Cuts Airbus A380 Flights To Heathrow In July [Full Schedule]

Partly due to the ongoing war in Iran, Emirates has had fewer passenger flights from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) recently, including in June. Five daily departures existed, instead of the usual six (and often up to seven in the winter).

The Gulf giant returned to six daily flights on July 1. But while the route is renowned for the number of Airbus A380 flights, the Boeing 777-300ER will temporarily operate some of the services in July. This is only notable because the airport pair tops the table for the highest number of departures on the double-decker quadjet.

Emirates once again has six flights a day to the UK’s busiest airport. Schedule analysis using Cirium Diio data shows that this frequency was last available in May 2026. However, as disclosed by Aeroroutes and as shown on Cirium, OAG, and other platforms, the 777-300ER will temporarily coexist with the A380. The three-class, first-class-equipped, 360-seat 777-300ER will mainly operate, but the four-class, 328-seat layout will appear too.

The 777-300ER will operate between July 1 and 14, and again from July 27 to 31. Until the weekend’s schedule update, it was only due to run until July 14. While not a big difference, this shows how quickly things can change. (Emirates also serves London Gatwick and London Stansted, but these routes are not considered in this article.)

While passenger 777s are not due to fly to LHR from August 1 onward, this is likely to change, particularly in the winter. This may be covered separately another time. In the first half of 2026, the 777-300ER was used on 104 departures. In the same six months last year, no 777 flights existed (the A380 was exclusively deployed). Of course, given the scale of Emirates’ LHR operation, this makes a very small difference overall.

Emirates’ Full LHR Passenger Schedule In July

The following table indicates all of Emirates’ arriving and departing LHR flights in the peak summer month. Given how high-volume and how premium the route is, the airline primarily deploys ‘relatively’ lower-capacity superjumbos to the heavily slot-constrained airport. The 484-seater is the most-used equipment. This has the carrier’s second-lowest number of seats, after the 468-seat configuration.

The number of people who only fly between LHR and DXB (and do not fly elsewhere) is considerable. In the 12 months to April 2026, booking data shows that nearly 1.5 million passengers did so. The UAE destination is, of course, massively popular for tourism, and Emirates’ high frequency means it is by far the market leader (hence the airline’s high fares when only going to DXB). Despite this, Emirates’ schedule broadly reflects the airline’s banks of arrivals and departures in DXB. This is because it must continually fill a considerable number of seats each day.

Passengers arrive from across Asia-Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East and flow to LHR and vice versa. However, the specific service on which the 777 is deployed is somewhat different, at least in one direction. Leaving DXB, it is on EK31, which departs from the UAE at 11:25 AM and arrives at LHR at 4:10 PM. The morning departure has few flights that connect conveniently and competitively to it, so it is more likely to revolve around the local demand and to mop up any delayed passengers from earlier services.

Booking data was used to explore Emirates’ connecting traffic (officially sixth-freedom traffic) involving LHR. In the 12 months to April 2026, approximately 950,000 passengers transited to another flight in DXB. Nearly 2,500 people did so daily.

Emirates’ top country market was India, followed by Australia, Pakistan, Thailand, New Zealand, the Maldives, South Africa, Indonesia, Mauritius, and the Philippines. At the airport level, the most popular segments were Melbourne Airport (MEL), Sydney, Brisbane, Malé, Islamabad, Mauritius, Bangkok, Colombo, Auckland, and Lahore.
