White House Releases Images of the Trump ‘Patriot Passport’

President Trump on Friday revealed the latest version of his likeness appearing on a U.S. passport to celebrate the 250th anniversary of American independence.

The renderings for what is being described as a commemorative passport differ from images previously released by the State Department. Those renderings, which were announced in April, featured a portrait of Mr. Trump with a serious gaze.

Opened flat, the latest version — of what the White House in a social media post called the Patriot Passport — resembles more of a spread in a coffee-table book than a conventional travel document.

One page is dominated by a monochrome portrait of Mr. Trump leaning forward against the backdrop of the Declaration of Independence, his signature printed beneath it.

Across the fold, an engraving depicts the country’s founders gathered around the drafting of the nation’s founding document.

The image is of the painting “The Declaration of Independence” by John Trumbull set against a softly waving American flag. The words “United States of America 250” anchor the design.

The White House presented the passport as a tribute to the nation’s semiquincentennial.

“The U.S.A.’s New Passport, which says, ‘Welcome, but be good!’” Mr. Trump wrote of the passport in a Truth Social post.

The 40,000 commemorative passports will be available, while supplies last, to U.S. citizens at the Washington Passport Agency, starting on July 6, the State Department said.

The passport redesign follows a series of efforts by Mr. Trump or his allies to place his name, likeness or signature on federal properties and programs.

Those efforts have included establishing Trump savings accounts for children and adding his name to the Kennedy Center. The president’s name was recently removed from the center after a federal judge determined that Mr. Trump’s allies did not have the legal authority to rename it.
