Prized guard Noam Yaacov signs with Utah

Noam Yaacov, the crown jewel of Alex Jensen’s 2026-27 team, has officially signed with Utah, the school announced on Friday morning.

The 6-foot-1 guard from Israel committed to Utah in late April, but went through the NBA draft process as an “auto-eligible” prospect.

Yaacov drew attention from NBA teams after a good showing at the NBA combine. Several NBA experts had him as a top undrafted free agent after he was not selected in this week’s NBA draft, but instead, Yaacov will head to Salt Lake City, where he instantly becomes one of the top players on Alex Jensen’s squad.

Yaacov played in a first-tier professional league in Belgium, BNXT, and helped his team, Filou Oostende, to the finals.

He averaged 17.4 points, 5.8 assists, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game in the 2025-26 season while shooting 46% from the field, 38.3% from 3 and 76.8% at the free-throw line.

Yaacov was a finalist for the BNXT MVP award.

Utah will welcome in a guard who has already proven himself in professional basketball and has already received attention from NBA organizations.

“Yaacov looked the part of an immediate-impact point guard for next season. He’s excellent in pick-and-roll situations, can initiate offense and control tempo and finds openings in the defense to score or create,” wrote ESPN’s Jeremy Woo.

“His jumper needs work, but he should provide a massive boost to Utah’s point guard play.”
