Carney gave an interview today to CNN and I hope Trump and his whole feckless administration appreciate the extent to which Carney has America’s back about this Iran War MOU.
Carney’s positive framing of the agreement will give it a credibility and substance that it didn’t have before now – he calls it “well structured”, “a game changer”, “performance-based”, and says “everyone in the G7 is behind it”.
Oh, I hope he is right!
I can’t find this interview posted anywhere except on X:
Full CNN interview with Carney… is he jumping the gun on the US communication strategy

TLDW (Too Long, Didn’t Watch) Here is a shorter clip from the interview:
And here is another press conference held at the G7:
I cannot remember a time before this when international press wanted to hear the thinking of a Canadian prime minister.
People have been laughing all day about Trump’s MOU – #ThingsIranGotInTheMOU

Trump was so desperate he’s agreed to nominate the leader of Iran for the Nobel Peace Prize.

And in this G7 clip, note the reaction of the women leaders to what Trump is saying,
Trump’s vanity projects in Washington are all laughable too.
I wonder how many campaign ads we’ll see that are just shots from around DC with no words. East wing, reflecting pool, Kennedy Center, UFC circus, rose garden patio thing…

When you see how big this “pool” really is, the idea of managing algae with a few bottles of hydrogen peroxide is like trying to use golf balls to stop an oil leak. Apparently it would take 2,000 gallons of Hydrogen Peroxide to clear that much algae, and it can’t be poured in a gallon at a time.
Reuters has a livestream of working trying to remove algae from the reflecting pool 😆

At the G7, Trump is an embarrassment
At the G7 sidelines, Carney is seizing on the opportunity to educate Trump about Canada’s Chinese deals, because obviously he’s not getting the truth from Nutlick and company. I suspect Carney will also be talking to Trump about the Gordie Howe Bridge too.
Banning social media for young teens has gone viral

In Canada, maybe it will be diffferent:
@francoksng Details of the new Digital Safety Act outlining how it’s going to make social media a safer place for kids just got released. The legislation does not include a blanket ban on kids using social media platforms but rather temporarily banning kids until these platforms reach certain safety compliance criteria. Some are saying that it’s not going far enough but I think it’s a step in the right direction. Details are still sparse but more to follow! #AI #kids #socialmedia #parents #Canada ♬ original sound – Francoksng

Or maybe not.
Dear Canada,
I know it feels like we must take drastic action to protect our children from social media.
I get the intuitive appeal of a ban.
But evidence supporting move ain’t great. Complex problems require, alas, a nuanced policy.

Banning media hasn’t worked in the past, either.
In 1908 the Lancet called for an 18+ age limit on reading in bed for U.K. children.
