PTC Launches Orbit: AI-Driven Asset Intelligence Solution

PTC has introduced PTC Orbit, a cloud-native “asset intelligence” solution built to bridge the gap between initial product design and real-world machine maintenance. Traditionally, manufacturers lose structured visibility once a product ships, leaving critical operational data scattered across separate enterprise silos. PTC said Orbit changes this dynamic.

The solution connects disparate networks like enterprise resource planning (ERP), product lifecycle management (PLM) and the Internet of Things (IoT) into a single, unified system of record.

The software uses an AI-first framework to synthesize these fragmented data streams. It functions as a predictive core. By processing the aggregate records, the system can instantly identify hidden failure patterns and predict regional maintenance demands as well as calculate real-time asset health scores.

The company said in a statement that instead of relying on static, rigid dashboards that only show what already broke, engineering and service teams can now leverage an interactive AI canvas. This allows them to query complex asset information organically based on their specific, immediate operational context.

With the solution, data becomes active intelligence. For early adopters like Southern Water, which used the platform to manage offline monitoring devices, this unified visibility directly translates into smarter infrastructure investments and optimized field operations.

PTC officially debuted the new platform at its PTC NEXT event in Chicago. By expanding its software portfolio, the company aims to establish a more unified product data foundation, accelerating AI-driven transformation for industrial and manufacturing companies globally.
