Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream was April 2026’s best-selling game in the US

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream was the best-selling game in the US last month.

According to data from Circana, Nintendo’s social sim game took pole position in April 2026 following its debut on 16th April, generating over $41 million (£30.4m) and cementing it as one of the best-selling games of the year so far.

Capcom’s new IP, Pragmata, took the silver, while Pearl Abyss’ Crimson Desert secured third place.

The top 10 is rounded out by MLB: The Show 26, Windrose, Pokémon Pokopia, Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2, Starfield, Saros, and Mario Kart World, respectively.

It’s the first time the analytics company has included estimated digital sales along with confirmed sales data, which means most – if not quite all – of the games included in this list include digital sale projections.

Circana also reported that spending on console content was “the primary driver of the growth”, with spending on console up 21 percent compared to this time last year. Subscription spending is also up 13 percent year-on-year, while PC content was “slightly up”.

“Helped by Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, consumer spending on new physical software grew 44 percent to $96 million compared to a year ago,” the firm added. “Year-to-date spending on new physical software also increased by 9 percent.”

In terms of the games securing the highest number of monthly players, Fortnite reigns supreme, albeit with a 1.24 million drop in monthly players in April. Counter-Strike 2 was runner-up, with Grand Theft Auto 5, Roblox, and EA Sports FC 26 completing the top five.

Resident Evil: Requiem remains 2026’s biggest-selling game to date, followed by Crimson Desert, MLB: The Show 26, Pokémon Pokopia, and WWE 2K26.
