Minister LeBlanc meets with provincial and territorial trade ministers to discuss Canada-U.S. trade and CUSMA review

Yesterday, the Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, President of the King’s Privy Council for Canada and Minister responsible for Canada-U.S. Trade, Intergovernmental Affairs, Internal Trade and One Canadian Economy, met with provincial and territorial trade ministers to discuss Canada-U.S. trade relations and preparations for the upcoming review of the Canada-United States-Mexico Agreement (CUSMA).

The Ministers discussed the evolving North American trade environment, including ongoing U.S. tariff measures affecting key Canadian sectors such as steel, aluminum, automobiles and softwood lumber.

Participants exchanged views on engagement with U.S. counterparts, Canada’s ongoing coordination with Mexico, and preparations underway across governments and with stakeholders ahead of the CUSMA review. Minister Leblanc reaffirmed the importance of continued collaboration to support Canadian workers, businesses and economic growth.

Minister LeBlanc reiterated that Canada remains ready to engage constructively with the United States and Mexico while continuing efforts to preserve stable and predictable market access for Canadian businesses.
