Police in York Region are warning the public after another coyote attack in Markham, Ont., on Sunday.

Police say a coyote bit a child in the head in a park in the area of Roy Rainey and Bur Oak avenues around 7:30 p.m.

They say the child is about five years old and was taken to hospital. The bite was not life-threatening.

Police say residents should be cautious in parks in the area of McCowan Road and 16th Avenue in Markham.

They said last week that a coyote bit a 16-year-old girl in the area of Mingay and Bur Oak avenues and she was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Police say people should remain alert, keep a safe distance from any wildlife and should not approach or attempt to feed a coyote.
