MILAN — Stefano Cantino is adding a trusted executive to the Dolce & Gabbana organization.
Cantino said during his first, informal meet-and-greet with the press at the brand’s Martini bar and restaurant on Monday morning that Maria Cristina Lomanto has joined Dolce & Gabbana as general manager Europe. Cantino was named co-chief executive officer of the Italian fashion group last month, after exiting Gucci in September 2025.
Lomanto was most recently president of Europe, the Middle East and Africa at Gucci, which she joined in 2022 from Roger Vivier.
When she went to Gucci, Lomanto brought extensive experience in fashion and luxury as she began her career at Jil Sander, before joining Yves Saint Laurent in the wholesale department. She then moved to the Prada Group, where she held several leadership roles, including leather goods merchandising and marketing director for Prada, retail director for Prada France, worldwide retail director, and ultimately general manager of Miu Miu.
Cantino and Lomanto also crossed paths at Prada as the former is no stranger to the group, having spent much of his 22-year career at the company in various business development, merchandising and marketing roles, involved in everything from retail to industrial processes. After Prada, Cantino joined Louis Vuitton, recruited by then-chairman and CEO Michael Burke, as senior vice president of communications. His scope extended to retail touch points.
At Dolce & Gabbana, Cantino flanks Alfonso Dolce, chairman and CEO.
Lomanto joins the brand at a moment of transformation, after cofounder Stefano Gabbana resigned from his positions at Dolce & Gabbana Holding Srl, Dolce & Gabbana Trademarks Srl and Dolce & Gabbana Srl ,effective Jan. 1. Gabbana maintains his “creative activities” within the group, the company has said.
