The Cannes Film Festival is underway and with it the Cannes Film Market, where distribution rights new potential movies are up for sale. Which means, of course, that a thriller starring Gerard Butler is surely available.
Indeed, one is! Deadline reports that ‘The Nest’, which has a typically compelling ticking-clock concept (more on that below), is available from Black Bear.

Our only issue? Given the huge number of movies (and TV shows) already using that title, the film will surely change its name on the way to screens.

Aaron Benjamin wrote the script based on real-life operatives, and it’ll follow a sniper (Butler) who receives an anonymous threat over the radio and must race against a ticking clock in order to save his family and 70,000 fans at the biggest sporting event on the globe – the World Cup.
No director is aboard yet, but the plan is to kick off filming early next year.
Where else can we see Gerard Butler?
Most recently on screens in ‘Greenland 2: Migration’, Butler will next be seen in movies including ‘Empire City’, the second live-action ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ and a third ‘Den of Thieves’ outing.
