Massive 19-Hour Flights: KLM’s 10 New Ultra-Long Routes In 2026 [Full List]

KLM is Europe’s seventh-largest airline by flights. Due to having no domestic air service, it ranks fourth for international departures. When only long-haul activity is considered, it is the continent’s fifth-largest carrier. That’s because long-haul flights only constitute 16% of its services, which is a smaller proportion than various other European operators.

Between June 2026 and March 2027, KLM plans to serve 169 destinations on a passenger basis from its Amsterdam Schiphol Airport (AMS) hub. This reflects what is known as of May 20 and may easily change later in the year.

Most articles that examine the length of flights focus on the maximum block time, which is the approach taken here. The information is from KLM’s schedule submission to OAG. Block time is straightforward. Reflecting slot possession, it includes taxi time at both ends of a route, the flight time, and a short period for delays.

It is measured as chocks-off-to-chocks-on and is, therefore, stand-to-stand or gate-to-gate. It balances multiple things, including the need for a competitive schedule, high aircraft productivity, and high punctuality. It is what’s shown on the carrier’s website, in other booking locations, and in schedules.

This article is based on data for June 2026 to March 2027 and combines nonstop and one-stop services. With a maximum block time of 18 hours and 35 minutes, Manila back to AMS via Taipei is number one. Fifth freedom rights are not available. Served four times a week, both the 288-seat Boeing 777-200ER and 275-seat 787-9 are used. Big sibling Air France will reintroduce flights from Paris to Manila later this year.

In second place is Bali back to AMS via Singapore, with fifth freedom rights available. Schedule analysis shows that the maximum block time is 17 hours and 55 minutes. Flights run daily on the 381-seat 777-300ER, which is KLM’s highest-capacity equipment.

Bali has been served by KLM since 2009. Given the sheer length of haul, and the lower-yielding nature of the tourist-driven market, it was the main operator from Europe for years. The fact that Indonesia was once a colony of the Netherlands probably contributed to this. Booking data shows that AMS was Europe’s second most popular local market to/from Bali last year, with 173,000 round-trip passengers.

With 10 weekly services, Turkish Airlines is now the primary operator from Europe (its hub is on the European side of the Bosphorus). All of its flights are nonstop too. However, most people fly via Gulf hubs, although that is somewhat less appealing at the moment. As such, some carriers, such as Singapore Airlines, have increased their European offering.

Timed up to 17 hours and 50 minutes, AMS to Santiago via Buenos Aires is third (daily 777-200ER). Then there’s Jakarta back to AMS via Kuala Lumpur (up to 16 hours and 55 minutes; five to six weekly 787-9) and Shanghai Pudong back to AMS (up to 14 hours and 20 minutes; 777-200ER/777-300ER/787-9). The latter market suffers from the inability to fly through Russian airspace.

At up to 14 hours and 45 minutes, the nonstop leg from Taipei to AMS would rank fifth. But it is not counted separately as it is part of a one-stop route that was discussed earlier in the article. Some may say this is unfair. If so, simply adjust the other entries to meet your own requirements.

In sixth place is Osaka back to AMS (up to 14 hours and 15 minutes; three weekly 787-9). Then there’s Seoul back to AMS (up to 14 hours and ten minutes; up to daily 787-9), AMS to Guayaquil via Quito (up to 14 hours and ten minutes; up to six weekly 787-9), Tokyo Nartia back to AMS (up to 14 hours and five minutes; daily 777-200ER/777-300ER/787-9), and AMS to Cartagena via Bogotá (up to 14 hours; daily 787-9/787-10).

Due to being part of one-stop operations, the nonstop legs from Singapore and Kuala Lumpur back to AMS are excluded. As usual, multiple other markets were close to being included. Hong Kong back to AMS was just short, with flights scheduled at up to 13 hours and 55 minutes. KLM serves it four times weekly using the 787-9.
