It is amazing what some people will do for an in-game cosmetic, and even those who don’t live in the right area to receive a pizza promo skin for gory fighting game Invincible Vs are still ordering themselves a slice, just to receive the in-game ensemble.
The cosmetic in question is a skin for Mark Grayson, and can only be acquired by purchasing either a slice or a whole pie’s worth of the Burger Mart Supreme – a burger inspired pizza complete with ground beef, pickles and sesame seeds on the crust – from the US-based Prince Street Pizza chain. Purchase a slice, receive a code. Done.
However, some keen beans who do not live near to a Prince Street Pizza (the chain has establishments in major US cities such as Las Vegas, New York, Chicago and Miami) have still gone ahead and purchased a slice of the Burger Mart Supreme over the phone, and received an image of the DLC code in return, even though they will never actually get to eat the pizza they have paid for.
This little workaround was shared on reddit by user Sir-Boring, who revealed they bought a singular slice of the promo pie, which cost them $8. “I told them to do whatever they want with the slice lmao,” Sir-Boring said. Many have applauded Sir-Boring’s dedication to getting the Invincible Vs Prince Street Pizza-inspired Mark Grayson skin, though others have also gawked at the idea of paying $8 for a cosmetic.
Eurogamer has sent a message over to Prince Street Pizza to find out how many calls for codes it has received since this Invincible Vs promo went live, and what they are doing with all the slices of pizza that have been purchased but not delivered.
Invincible Vs released last month, and so far has some positive reviews on Steam. If you want an idea of what it’s like, you can read Eurogamer’s early preview of the game from last year, in which Alex Donaldson wrote: “In a limited build with only a handful of characters and stages available, it’s already clear that there’s a foundation for something special here.”
