Left-wing violence on the rise in U.S., but it’s a trend across factions


That doesn’t mean most Americans turn to violence against their opponents, but politically motivated violent incidents are increasing. According to The Wall Street Journal, citing data from the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), “domestic attacks and plots against the U.S. government are at their highest levels since at least 1994.” The Journal’s Caitlin Ostroff and Jaclyn Jeffrey-Wilensky referred to 2025 as “the year of the Molotov cocktail” because “That crude, incendiary device (symbolic of revolutionary politics) featured in at least seven attacks or plots” last year.
