Chris Green: Australian all-rounder to join Lancashire early for overseas stint

Australian all-rounder Chris Green is to join Lancashire earlier than planned for his third spell with the club.

The 32-year-old off-spinner and batter had been due to arrive in time for the start of the T20 Blast on 22 May.

But he will now be available for the two Championship games against Middlesex and Worcestershire before that.

Green will then be at Emirates Old Trafford for the duration of the T20 Blast, including the knockout stages, and the two Championship games played in June.

In the past two years, the Australian has taken 35 wickets in 25 T20 games, while in first-class cricket, he has scored two centuries and grabbed 24 wickets in only five matches.

“Chris is incredibly respected in the dressing room and seen as a real leader. We can’t wait to welcome him back,” said, external Lancashire director of cricket performance Mark Chilton.

Green, who is currently playing in the Pakistan Super League, will take the second overseas spot in Lancashire’s squad alongside Australia batter Marcus Harris.
