Captain Holland completed an unshowy 50 off 115 balls with four fours and little difficulty, as a few uncharacteristic fielding errors emphasised the home side’s struggles.

Lewis Hill and Holland added a solid 83 before a hostile spell with the new ball from the Australian Hadley paid dividends, Holland uppercutting to third man and Hill playing on to another short ball for 42 to halt the momentum.

The home bowlers were unable to keep up the threat as Tattersall and Eskinazi knocked the ball around without too many risks in a partnership of 107 to earn four batting points.

Former Middlesex man Eskinazi continued his fine run of form for his new county, with a century and a previous 50 already this season, before being bowled by an Andy Gorvin inswinger just after reaching his half-century.

Tattersall survived a short-leg chance off Hadley on 58 as Leicestershire ground on without producing the excitement that Weatherald and Rishi Patel had offered the previous evening when they scored at five runs an over.

Ben Cox (31 not out) joined Tattersall to apply more pressure on Glamorgan, who will take heart from the lack of wickets falling since the first morning as they look to avoid defeat.
