The Oklahoma Sooners have lost one of their commits from the 2027 recruiting class. Running back Jaxsen Stokes, who hails from Chatsworth, California, has flipped his commitment from OU to Cal, he announced on Sunday.
Stokes plays at Sierra Canyon High School, and the 5-foot-9, 195-pounder will now choose to stay local with the Golden Bears. He was a three-star recruit, according to Rivals, and he’d been pledged to Oklahoma since November.
Despite losing Stokes’ commitment, Oklahoma is still in position to sign a great 2027 class. The Sooners now have 19 commits in the class, including another running back pledge in Keldrid Ben, a four-star prospect from Montgomery (Texas) High School. Ben has been committed to OU since December, and he’s the physically bigger of the two players, at 5-foot-10, 210 pounds.

Now, the Sooners will likely go back on the hunt at the running backs position in the ’27 class, as they’ve signed multiple RBs in each of the last few cycles. New running backs coach Deland McCullough will lead the charge, as he’ll likely be looking for his first pledge in the class as a Sooners assistant.
