Belts have been having a bit of a resurgence. Suddenly, they’re everywhere. But not in the ways that you would even expect. Instead, people are wearing shirts and tops made out of dresses. Some people are just turning their entire belt collection into an ensemble by wearing them all at once. Look at any recent runway season and you’ll see what we mean: no one is wearing belts as they were intended. No one is wearing them in the way that they were intended. It’s less about being practical and more about having fun.
The most interesting development in the belt world is that now belts are more textured then ever. They’re embellished or covered in studs or covered in pony hair or shearling. They’re patterned and printed; bright and colorful. Some of the most popular belts right now look like they could even be made out of hay or straw.

This turn of events in the accessories realm makes sense when you consider how popular bag charms have been for over a year. Everyone wants to add a little something to their look that helps make it feel less serious and more fun. Textured belts do that in a way that feels more timeless. It adds a new element without feeling too cutesy or trendy. Which is exactly why a funky textured belt needs a place in your spring wardrobe.
