Enshrouded approaches the Roblox event horizon with the addition of Adventure Sharing in its latest update

Roblox is the carcinisation of video games. It is an endpoint that, despite many varying diverging paths, many games ultimately end up at, even if they look noticeably different. Enshrouded is now approaching its own carcinisation with its latest update, Forging the Path, which introduces the awaited Adventure Sharing feature.

Adventure Sharing is, more or less, what it says on the tin. You can already build all sorts of things in the survival game, like castles, obstacle courses, dungeons, but up until now any creation of yours was stuck on your own computer. With Adventure Sharing, you can now upload anything you’ve made for any other person to play around in, with some limitations. Right now you can’t pick up items, gain XP, or even interact with enemies, though there are plans for adding more features in the lead-up to 1.0. Fingers crossed it doesn’t go full crab and introduced some Robux-like nonsense. Maybe just a soft-shell crab? Alright, the metaphor’s over, relax.

The update goes a good bit beyond Adventure Sharing too. Combat has received a big rework, for one, as there’s a new resource called focus that can be built up while fighting. Once filled, a “new weapon special ability can be used for devastating effect,” though I can’t tell you what that is. Every weapon type has a heavy attack now too, dealing more damage with slower movement as the tradeoff. Enemies will be more aware of you now as well, as they’re able to react to nearby noise, and they only call for help when they actually see you, allowing for more stealthy approaches.

It’ll be easier to make your way through the skill tree now, with many skills now upgradeable once unlocked, and lower down skills costing less. This has resulted in a rebalance of several skills, with all skills at a base level weaker, and conversely all top-end skills are as strong if not stronger.

For those new to Enshrouded, the early game has seen some improvements to things like tutorials, with needed resources more readily available, and early XP requirements have been rejigged for “better pacing.” There’s more changes besides all of the above too, which you can read about in this update’s patch notes.
