‘This is a moment of grave peril’


UN Humanitarian Affairs Lead Tom Fletcher has said the world faces “a moment of grave, grave peril”, warning the conflict in the Middle East is having a “massive impact” on civilians.

He also warned of “secondary impacts” further afield, voicing concerns about increasing extremism and polarisation in the region and beyond.

“We’ve got to step back from the brink right now”, he told the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg.
