A’Ja Wilson‘s signature Nike shoe is moving on to phase two, packing more technology and molded upper carrying over the texture of its predecessor.
The Nike A’Two has been formally announced for a May release with the addition of a forefoot Air Zoom unit for increased responsiveness. Cushlon 3.0 foam returns in the midsole from the A’One but with a shank to maintain the transference of energy and control torsional movement. Greater lockdown also comes from the molded synthetic leather upper, which is shaped with largely horizontal ripples on its lateral side and more diagonally on the medial with cutouts revealing mesh windows beneath.
“The A’One was a journey — a real blessing,” Wilson said in a press release. “It did exactly what it was meant to do and put people on notice. The A’Two is a level up of that strong foundation. It’s bigger, bolder and even more me. I poured my whole heart into the shoe and the collection — creating something that everyone can continue to feel a part of, from the girlies to the kids to the fellas.”
Just like for the A’One, pink defines the A’Two’s launch colorway. Iridescent branding elements, as well as the new reinforced heel counter and shank, continue the storytelling around a cherished pearl necklace that Wilson’s grandmother gave to her as a child. Through the tongue and vamp, a subtle star shape connects to that used in Wilson’s signature logo.
A new apparel collection will also release alongside the sneakers and includes a single-leg Dri-Fit tight, oversize and unisex hoodie with a sateen-lined hood to protect hair and more.
“The materials for my collection are A’grade,” Wilson added. “We wanted each piece to be top-tier, meeting players’ every need in performance and style — adding something special to their wardrobe that’s both athletic and fashionable.”
The Nike A’Two “A’Pink” will release on May 2 through Nike’s website and select third-party retailers. Pricing, though not officially confirmed, is expected to be set at $145.
