Canadian invention: The Last Sam the Record Man is in Ontario


The company filed for bankruptcy protection in 2001, and most of the 130 or so stores countrywide closed in bunches, but some independently owned locations hung on. The one in Sarnia, Ont., operated until 2009. Believe it or not, the last Sam’s in the world is still operating in a mall in Belleville, Ont., as an independent franchise.
