38 Spring Pieces My Mom and I Love From Zara and Nordstrom

When I was younger, my mom, who worked in the fashion industry, was my style inspiration. I relied on her judgment for my outfits. However, as I got older, I developed a passion for fashion, and my personal style emerged. While I still valued her opinion, I ultimately chose what made me feel most comfortable and confident. This led to a distinct personal style, quite different from hers. Mine leans toward classic silhouettes updated with modern touches, keeping my pieces current while remaining staples for years to come. My mom, on the other hand, describes her style as “playful and funky but timeless and intentionally effortless.” Despite these differences, we surprisingly agree on what constitutes “chic.”

As two women who love fashion, we constantly share our latest finds via text and DMs to get each other’s thoughts. With spring approaching, our momentum has picked up as we both look to refresh our wardrobes. Many of the items we’ve been sending back and forth come from Zara and Nordstrom—our reliable destinations for the items we’ll actually wear. Since it wouldn’t be fun to gatekeep what we’re eyeing for spring, I decided to put together a list of over 30 pieces we both love right now. The best part? These pieces are ageless and versatile; I plan to style them one way, and my mom another. From timeless trench coats to colored button-down shirts and sophisticated dark-wash denim, keep scrolling to see our must-have finds.
