QPR midfielder Aoraha moves to Iraq


Queens Park Rangers midfielder Alex Aoraha has joined Iraqi top-flight side Al Zawraa SC.

The 23-year-old has made a permanent switch to the Baghdad-based side having made his debut for Iraq’s national team in November 2022.

Aoraha, who qualifies to play for Iraq through his father, joined QPR as an 11-year-old and made one senior appearance for the R’s in a Carabao Cup tie in August 2023.

He previously spent time on loan at Ebbsfleet United in the National League in 2024.

“This was an exciting opportunity for him – he has been nothing but professional and hard-working during my time here and long before that too,” QPR chief executive Christian Nourry told the club website.

Rangers have not disclosed whether a fee was paid for Aoraha’s transfer.
