Advocates say the federal government is behind in what needs to be done when it comes to addressing calls made by the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) in its final report seven years ago.

NDP MP Leah Gazan said the Liberals are turning their back on Indigenous women, girls and gender diverse people.

“Let’s not forget, it was former Liberal Prime Minister Trudeau who accepted the final report and acknowledged their findings of this crisis being an ongoing genocide,” Gazan said.
