With the schools out for summer and August drawing closer by the day, the holidays we’ve been dreaming about are finally within arm’s reach. Whilst I’ll always feel at home within Tuscany’s sun-soaked shores, this year, it’s the vineyards of Provence that are calling my name. From wondering the honey-hued streets of Gordes hilltop villages to sipping crisp glasses of Châteauneuf-du-Pape in Rhône Valley’s vineyards, wine country is exactly where I want to be right now.
Charming visitors for decades, it’s easy to see why Provence is adored by the fashion set. Framed by the sparkling Mediterranean sea, its patchwork olive groves and lavender fields are so picturesque they feel straight out of a postcard. Having booked a trip earlier in the year (that is now its mere days away), I’m now giving thought on what exactly what I should wear.
With the region famed from its classic French charm, my fail-safe rotation of lightweight linens and breezy maxi dresses was an obvious place to start. But the real challenge was giving them that extra je ne sais quoi. Thankfully, this summer the feeds of the chicest provincial dressers are full of ‘inspo. Think fashion-forward bloomer trousers styled with whisper-soft blouses, or timeless Broderie Anglaise sets finished with delicate, yet decadent accessories. With the French fashion set (and fashionable dressers in the region), the devil is in the details. Having found seven timeless looks, I knew you needed to see them too before you hit Provence. Scroll to see, and of course, shop, the vest best looks to come out of France this summer.
What to Wear in Provence in Summer 2026:
1. Lace-Trim Tank Top + Lace Trousers + Mary Janes
Style Notes: You can’t take a trip to Provence without packing at least one lace-trimned top and a pair of Broderie Angalise trousers. With an easy-going classicism to both styles, Ingrided Vinsen [pictured above] makes the combo feel fresher by adding a contrasting pair of Mary Jane ballet flats in a midnight hue. Finished with delicate jewellery its the perfect day-to-night look.

LIÉ STUDIO

2. Sheer Blouse + Bloomer Trouser + Flip Flops
Style Notes: When you swap heavy jersey for breezy separates, your outfit feels immediately a little more French, non? Need more proof? Look no further than Jeanette Madsen’s all-white ensemble [above]. Adding drama with her stylish bloomers, her delicate blouse feels more fashion-forward than it would with denim. Whilst the bare feet will work on a yacht, if you’re exploring the city, why not style with a timeless raffia shoulder bag and minimal leather flip flops.

AKIND

3. Peplum Top + Capri Leggings + Strappy Sandals
Style Notes: It’s true, you can never go wrong with white in summer (especially in France), but if you’re looking to break up the hue, why not opt for a print instead? Salome Mory (pictured above) doubles up on polka-dots to add a playful finish to her capri leggings and peplum top combination. Styled up with strappy slip-on sandals and a micro pouch bag, I could picture myself wearing this to one of the region’s many vineyards.

4. Statement Maxi Dress + Kitten Heel Sandal + Clutch Bag

Just remember to bring a tote bag big enough to pack your swimsuit and towel.

7. Crochet Maxi Dress + Flip Flops + Woven Bag
Style Notes: Whilst it’s true French women play with raunchy details better than most, their outfits typically favour a more modest approach. Take Marianne Smyth’s crochet cover up dress for example. Layering up with her bikini, the thick woven fabric allows her to freely walk around the hotel or slip down to the market without feeling too over-exposed.
