Nearly every school in the northern Manitoba city of Thompson was evacuated on Tuesday following a series of bomb threats.
The calls were all made around noon to each school individually, RCMP said in an email.
The schools were evacuated out of an abundance of caution as officers worked to clear each building, police said in a news release Tuesday afternoon.
Two schools were already deemed safe as of 1:30 p.m., RCMP said.
A heavy police presence should be expected around schools until the matter is fully resolved. More information will be released as it becomes available, RCMP said.
There are six elementary schools and one high school in the city, about 645 kilometres north of Winnipeg. All are operated by the School District of Mystery Lake.
RCMP have not identified which ones were targeted.
