5 Reasons to Buy the New Pink Floyd Cassette Deck, Ranked Best to Worst

Don’t have a copy of Pink Floyd’s iconic Dark Side of the Moon in your collection? Or, even if you do, then here’s something different: An exclusive version of the album on cassette and a branded cassette player from We Are Rewind.

Dark Side of the Moon has been released on every conceivable format, including SACD and MiniDisc, and the album is claimed to be in the top 10 of best-selling cassettes of all time. This version will be the only cassette release of the 50th anniversary mix.

The We Are Rewind cassette player is a skinned version of the WE-001, and the company says it has been optimized for 2026 with “true hi-fi sound, a unique headphone amplifier designed with cassette playback in mind, aluminum build, metal buttons and modern features.”

Other features, apart from that prism-shaped porthole, include Bluetooth and a rechargeable battery that lasts for up to 12 hours. In my review of the original WE-001, I found that the We Are Rewind was likable, but it was also huge and (like all modern cassette decks) doesn’t come with Dolby noise reduction.

This is the list of reasons to get the Pink Floyd cassette deck, ranked from best to worst:

  1. You’re a Pink Floyd collector
  2. You love Dark Side of the Moon
  3. You want a cool-looking cassette player
  4. You want to go viral on TikTok
  5. You’ve never listened to Dark Side of the Moon before

The player is available in limited quantities, the number of which is yet to be confirmed, and it sells for $199.
