I love discovering new places to shop, and I’ve previously covered British and L.A. brands to know, so I thought: where to next? Australia immediately came to mind given how many labels I already know and love from there.
For example, I immediately think of Deiji Studios, which was founded in 2016 in Byron Bay. When wearing nightgowns outside the house became more popular in recent years, the company was known for blurring the lines between pajamas and ready-to-wear with its organic cotton poplin pieces. If you’re looking for more natural fibers, one of my favorite sources for silk is Silk Laundry, which debuted in 2015 with its now best-selling ’90s Slip Dress. It’s also carried at the New York boutique WeWearAustralia, which exclusively stocks Australian designers.
I recently wrote about Permanent Vacation as well. Founded by Claire Louise Smith and operating on a project-based model rather than a traditional seasonal calendar, the line recently shared its latest collection, Slow Dance. The overall aesthetic channels ’90s minimalism with a technical, gorpy twist, using materials sourced from Japan. My favorite items are the matching recycled nylon Refract Singlet and Refract Skirt sets, along with the Orbit Dress and Debut Skirt.

Then there’s Studio Amelia, which I first discovered through Australian influencer Camelia Farhoodi. Focused on footwear and accessories, the Sydney company was established in 2019 and is now stocked at retailers including Moda Operandi and Revolve. I’m personally eyeing the Wishbone 50 Heel and recently received a pair of the Greta 50 Mule. My most recent Australian discovery has been Rashi World, a Bondi Beach line founded in 2025. Each piece offers UPF 50+ protection, blocking 98% of harmful UV rays, with a focus on making sun protection feel fashionable. The collection is also made using recycled Italian fabrics.
