This week’s movers on the government relations scene.

Sarah Hamilton has joined Wellington Dupont Public Affairs as its principal in Alberta.
The firm announced the hiring of Hamilton in a press release last week.
“Sarah’s experience working in multiple levels of government in Alberta and her extensive government stakeholder network will be extraordinarily valuable to our clients. We are excited to continue to expand WD’s work in Alberta through Sarah’s leadership,” the company said.
Prior to joining Wellington Dupont, Hamilton was a city councillor in Edmonton for the sipiwiyiniwak ward for 8 years. In her own statement on LinkedIn, Hamilton expressed her excitement to join the firm, stating, “I’m pleased to join Wellington Dupont Public Affairs to bring an Alberta perspective to federal and provincial public affairs and help Alberta companies navigate and collaborate with the federal government.”

Meanwhile, David Timm has joined Sussex Strategy Group as an equity partner and practice lead for energy.
In a release posted on LinkedIn, Timm shared his thoughts on joining Sussex.
“Working across global markets, and amid the rapid changes of the past few years, has reinforced the importance of pragmatic, solutions‑focused engagement. Never has there been a time when navigating complexity, and identifying opportunity within it, mattered more for Canada’s future.”
Before leading this team at Sussex, Timm worked as the global head of public affairs for Northland Power Inc. With this experience, Sussex states, “David will play a key role in advancing the firm’s growth while helping clients succeed in complex political and regulatory environments.”

Finally, Bondy & Associates has brought on Kara McLean as vice president for public affairs.
In a press release, McLean shared “Matthew J. Bondy and team have built one of Canada’s most respected consulting firms, with a clear focus on nation-building and advancing the country’s long-term economic and strategic interests. That mission and the opportunity to contribute to work grounded in what’s best for Canada is what drew me to the firm”.
McLean brings with her a great deal of experience, having served as chief of staff to the regional chair of Waterloo as well as the Mayor of Hamilton. Prior to that, she worked in the Office of the Leader of the Official Opposition at Queen’s Park. In Bondy & Associates own release, Matthew Bondy, the founder of the firm, stated, “We exist to serve our very carefully-selected clients so they can serve the long-term prosperity of Canada and our own anchor community of Waterloo Region. Adding Kara just adds more fuel to that fire.”
