US to blockade ships entering and leaving Iranian ports Monday

(Bloomberg) — US forces will begin implementing a blockade of all maritime traffic entering and leaving Iranian ports on Monday at 10 a.m. New York time, the US Central Command said, following up on President Donald Trump’s announcement of the measure after US-Iranian talks broke up without an agreement.

“The blockade will be enforced impartially against vessels of all nations entering or departing Iranian ports and coastal areas, including all Iranian ports on the Arabian Gulf and Gulf of Oman,” Centcom said in a statement Sunday.

US forces won’t impede freedom of navigation for vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz to and from non-Iranian ports, Centcom said.
