Overall, Miliku recommends focusing on patterns and not perfection. “It’s increasing the whole or minimally processed foods — which are the fruits, the vegetables, the legumes, the dairy, the whole grains — and reducing the reliance on the (packaged) snack-type foods,” she says. “It’s not about demonizing these foods, but it’s thinking about how we can incorporate and minimize those in the overall diet pattern.”
