Two Iowans accused of lacing lasagna with drugs to cause woman’s miscarriage | Iowa

Two people in Iowa were accused of giving a pregnant woman a lasagna laced with narcotics with the intention of causing a miscarriage, according to law enforcement.

Matthew Uthoff, 35, and his wife, 36-year-old Amber Dena Snow, are accused of delivering a lasagna containing oxycodone to the pregnant individual. The couple faces several charges including delivery of a controlled substance and purposefully terminating a human pregnancy without the knowledge and voluntary consent of the pregnant individual.

Uthoff was arrested on Thursday and Snow was arrested on 10 March.

The incident took place in December 2025, the Des Moines Register reported. Uthoff and Snow had allegedly discussed the tainted lasagna in several phone messages and in conversations with investigators, according to court records, reported WHO-TV, an NBC News affiliate.

Snow shared custody of her child with the victim’s relatives. Snow’s child was reportedly present when the lasagna was delivered to the unknowing victim, the Register reported. The minor objected to the plan.

A sample of the lasagna tested by the Iowa division of criminal investigation’s criminalistics laboratory came back positive for oxycodone, a powerful opioid.

The Winneshiek county sheriff’s office and the Winneshiek county attorney’s office began investigating the incident in January after receiving a call about the lasagna, KGAN reported, citing the sheriff’s office.

The victim reportedly had no knowledge of the attempt to terminate her pregnancy.

Both Uthoff and Snow are being held in the Winneshiek county jail, with Snow on a $100,000 cash bond and Uthoff on a 38,000 cash or surety bond.

The Winneshiek county sheriff’s office did not immediately respond to the Guardian’s request for comment.
