Trump’s civilizational threats forces Iran to reopen Strait of Hormuz


The Islamic Republic may have survived this round of war, but it is frailer, poorer and more isolated than before. Its blockade of the Gulf of Hormuz was unexpectedly successful, but that does not change the fact that, on the whole, its negotiating position remains weak — why else did it, when threatened with obliteration, agree to a ceasefire that it had rejected just days earlier?
