TotalEnergies Buys 40% Stake in Galp’s Namibia Oil Discovery


The Mopane discovery is located in Namibia’s Orange Basin, one of the hottest offshore exploration zones globally. Galp has estimated the Mopane complex may contain as much as 10 billion barrels of oil equivalent, which would place it among the largest oil finds in the past decade. The Lisbon-based company also has upstream operations in Brazil and São Tomé and Príncipe, off Africa’s west coast.
