On Wednesday night, celebrities — Gabrielle Union, Jordan Chiles and Tia Mowry included — gathered at the 2026 Maternal Health Gala hosted by Jhpiego, a renowned global health nonprofit and Johns Hopkins University affiliate. The latter took to the red carpet in sleek suede black heels, complemented by a voluminous Simkhai dress.
Refined and understated, Mowry’s heels boast a slim strap across the upper part of her foot, balancing function with polish. A pointed toe sharpened the silhouette, while a high heel provided just the right amount of lift. Suede heels, of course, are as timeless as they come, making them a reliable option for an evening out. Plus, there’s no shortage of styles to choose from right now, as a range of brands like Loeffler Randall, Badgley Mischka and The Row are continuing to spotlight the style. Christian Louboutin’s famous Erozee heels, meanwhile, offer a similar look in a patent leather finish.

Mowry wore the pared-back shoes with a billowy number from Simkhai. Priced at $845, her dress — the brand’s Kenlie style — featured a rib-knit long-sleeve top alongside a voluminous taffeta skirt featuring soft pleats and a bubble hem. The “Sister, Sister” alum accented the all-black look with high-shine gold jewelry, including oversized hoop earrings, a dainty pendant necklace and two cuffs. She wore her hair in a high, slicked-back ponytail, allowing the look to take center stage.

On the red carpet at The Beverly Hills Hotel, Mowry posed for photos with Jhpiego’s newest global ambassador, Gabrielle Union, who arrived in a long gray fringe gown from Altuzarra’s fall 2026 collection, Robin Thede and Michelle Buteau. “Maternal health is a matter of dignity and equity,” Union said in a statement. “Every mother and every child deserves access to safe care and the opportunity to thrive. I’m honored to work alongside Jhpiego to help amplify this mission and support communities around the world.”
