The Boys season 5’s first trailer and release date revealed at CCXP

The Boys is coming to an end with its next season, and based on the first trailer for season 5 of Prime Video’s ultra-violent satirical superhero saga, The Boys will be going out with a bang when it returns next April.

The first trailer for The Boys season 5 was revealed Saturday at CCXP 2025 in Brazil. In it, we see some of our heroes held prisoner in a Homelander “Freedom Camp,” with Annie trying to mount a resistance against the world’s super-powered oppressors. Butcher, armed with a Supe-killing virus, tries to rally the troops, “no matter the cost,” he says. Mother’s Milk accurately assesses their odds in the trailer, saying, “We ain’t surviving this fuckin’ war. We’re dead men walking.” Sounds potentially very bad!

Season 4 of The Boys certainly changed the stakes: The newly installed President of the United States, Steve Calhoun, had sworn allegiance to Homelander, declared martial law, and deputized an army of Supes to maintain order. Many of The Boys — e.g. Hughie, Kimiko, Frenchie — were captured by Homelander’s forces, while Annie (aka Starlight) and Butcher remained at large, the latter in possession of a virus that could wipe out Supes worldwide. Also, we never did find out what happened to Ashley after she took that Compound V when Homelander started cleaning house at Vought HQ… but apparently she’s now President Calhoun’s press secretary?

Returning for season 5 of The Boys are Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie Campbell, Antony Starr as Homelander, Erin Moriarty as Annie January/Starlight, Jessie T. Usher as A-Train, Laz Alonso as M.M., Chace Crawford as the Deep, Tomer Capone as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko Miyashiro, Nathan Mitchell as Black Noir, Colby Minifie as Ashley Barrett, Cameron Crovetti as Ryan Butcher, Susan Heyward as Sister Sage, Valorie Curry as Firecracker, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Joe Kessler, and Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy. New to the cast are Daveed Diggs and Ackles’ Supernatural co-stars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins in unannounced roles.

The Boys fifth and final season will begin streaming on Prime Video on April 8, 2026, with a two-episode premiere. New episodes will stream weekly, with the series finale dropping on May 20, 2026.

And while The Boys is coming to a close, don’t worry, there’s more from The Boys universe still to come. There’s a new prequel series, Vought Rising, set in the 1950s that focuses on Soldier Boy and Stormfront, and the in-development The Boys: Mexico, from executive producers Diego Luna and Gael García Bernal.
