The Airbus A220 is a state-of-the-art narrowbody aircraft that is configured with five-abreast seating. Initially designed and developed by Bombardier Aviation in Canada, it was known as the Bombardier C Series and was first launched in July 2008. The first and smallest version of the C Series was the CS100, which flew for the first time in September 2013. Airbus acquired a majority stake in the programme in 2018 and was renamed the Airbus A220. Washington Dulles – Seattle

The shortest in the top ten is Delta Air Lines’ nonstop service connecting the nation’s capital to the west. This link between Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Seattle/Tacoma International Airport (SEA), will operate practically every day, connecting the city pair. The route, which will provide 46,930 seats, represents 108,220,580 available seat miles (ASMs).

Covering a distance of 2,306 miles (3,689 kilometers), the flight has an estimated duration of five hours, 50 minutes, and is operated by one of Delta’s 34 Airbus A220-300. Delta is the largest operator of the A220 family of aircraft, with 45 A220-100 and 34 active A220-300. The carrier has another 66 of the type on order.

Operators on the Washington to Seattle city pair are Alaska Airlines (Washington Dulles and Washington National), Delta Air Lines (Washington Dulles and Washington National), and United Airlines (Washington Dulles).

San Diego International Airport (SAN) is the third busiest airport in the state of California, and has a growing number of transcontinental services. Breeze covers the 2,330 miles (3,728 kilometers) route, which has an estimated block time of five hours and 15 minutes. Breeze is the only operator offering the route nonstop.

Breeze Airbus A220-300 is configured to carry a total of 12 business and 125 economy class passengers, which equates to a total of 45,966,240 available seat miles on the route in 2025. The low-cost carrier first launched the route in May 2024, operating twice per week.

Los Angeles – Norfolk

Breeze’s second Californian connection from Norfolk transports passengers non-stop to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The route, which will operate a gentle 26 times, will provide a modest 3,562 seats on the route. The route is only offered seasonally and is flown in the Northern Hemisphere summer season, twice weekly.

The route covers a distance of 2,371 miles (3,793 kilometers) gate to gate, with a blocked flight time of five hours and four minutes. The service will provide a total of 8,445,502 available seat miles, and is the only nonstop service from Norfolk to the City of Angels (Los Angeles).

According to ch-aviation, Breeze Airways operates a fleet of 48 Airbus A220-300, with another 42 on order. The airline also has a small fleet of eight Embraer 190s. Breeze was first established just seven years ago (2018) by David Neeleman, who has famously co-founded several recognizable airlines such as WestJet, JetBlue, and Azul Linhas Aereas. Breeze commenced its first flights in May 2021.

With just one flight recorded with the Airbus A220-300 in 2025, Delta Air Lines will operate a single rotation between John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and Palm Springs International Airport (PSP) with the aircraft type. Reno is a popular tourist destination and the third-largest city in the state of Nevada. It attracts visitors with its number of casinos, outdoor recreation, and a vibrant downtown area along the Truckee River. JetBlue’s nonstop flights from New York have a block time of six hours and 10 minutes and cover a distance of 2,411 miles (3,857 kilometers) gate to gate.

Reno-Tahoe International Airport (RNO) has a growing number of domestic carriers; however, JetBlue remains the only airline offering nonstop service to New York. Data from the Bureau of Transportation Statistics data shows that the top three routes from RNO are Las Vegas, Denver, and Phoenix.
