Skyblivion devs are “on the hunt” for some “final, vital” veteran hands to get the Oblivion remake mod over the line this year

With the first few months of its latest target release year drawing to a close, the modders behind Skyblivion are looking to make some “final” and “vital” veteran additions to their team in order to get the ambitious remake of Oblivion in Skyrim’s engine over the line. This comes after a delay late last year, which saw Skyblivion’s arrival pushed to 2026, following some accusations from a former dev that it was being rushed out of the door.

Now, not too long after a showcase that saw the mod’s project lead say it’s “in a great place”, a post on Nexus Mods is calling for veteran modders to help the Skyblivion team with their final push.

“To get this monumental project completely over the finish line, the Skyblivion team needs just a little extra firepower,” wrote Nexus Mods content team member ModularCocoon. “They are currently on the hunt for the final, vital members of their development team to bring this massive undertaking to life.”

With these last minute additions, the Skyblivion lot are seeking experienced modders and developers with “a highly specialised skill set” in one or more of six areas – quests, navmeshing, interior level design/QA, 3D art, implementation, and sound design. The post goes into a little more depth as to the specific skills or tool knowledge the team are looking for in each area. Notably, when it comes to navmeshing – one of the areas the team said was a part of their remaining to-do list heading into this year – the team are “looking for specialists who can draw navmeshes entirely by hand, and can do so both cleanly and relatively fast” in addition to the ability to clean up existing meshes.

“They’re not just looking for those with technical skills, but also the ability to work collaboratively as the team regularly talks to each other, writes things down, records all tasks and issues in a shared tracker, and engages in peer review,” ModularCocoon’s post continued. “That last bit’s also notable due to criticism the mod’s leads faced from ex-dev Dee Keyes last year in terms of keeping up communication between different bits of the team. “Because the team is in the final, critical stages of development,” the post added, “they are strictly looking for veterans who can hit the ground running.”

As of writing, there doesn’t look to be a version of this call for recruits in the announcements section of the Skyblivion devs’ Discord server or a link to the Nexus Mods post, so I’ve reached out to the modders for comment in case they’ve got anything extra to add.
