Today, April 1st, 2026, Simple Flying is pleased to announce the planned opening of its first airline lounge. The new lounge space, due to open at
New York JFK Airport’s Terminal One, has been meticulously designed with avgeeks, plane spotters, and general travelers in mind.
Using our database of airline and lounge reviews, tied with reader comments and complicated algorithms, the Simple Flying team has come up with the formula for the perfect airline lounge. Taking a holistic view on design, the Simple Flying team has added features across the different zones, each appealing to a different segment of travelers.
Designed With Avgeeks & Planespotters At Heart
The standout feature of the new Simple Flying lounge will be its planespotting terrace. Guests will be able to see the planes coming. A large display showing ground radar of the airport will accompany telescopes, while live ATC broadcasts will be streamed across the terrace.
A unique feature of the lounge will be the Business Class Experience Zone, with a rotating selection of the best long-haul business class products on the market. Passengers will be able to experience their choice of business products without setting foot on an aircraft, accompanied by expert commentary from the Simple Flying team. Another highly requested avgeek feature sees the launch of the world’s first “airport loo with a view”.
Commenting on the groundbreaking announcement, Simple Flying’s Managing Editor Tom Boon remarked,
“I’ve sat in a lot of airport lounges over the years researching articles. This one is different. This one is ours.”
Additional Context & Relevant Insights
Food and drink are key considerations for lounge users, and here you will find a unique upcycling feature in the coffee machine. The steam wand on the barista’s machine is a repurposed aircraft pitot tube. A range of hot and cold options are available throughout the day based on our favourite lounge snacks such as Finnair’s reindeer pasta bake, and
Lufthansa’s breakfast (offered all day).
Of course, the lounge has been developed with every traveller in mind. There are several different zones, including places to take a nap, standard lounge seating, and work stations. Every single seat has some form of power socket, meaning you can stay charged up on the go.
We’ve also created some special activities for the kids to help foster their love of aviation at an early age. Called “Kids Get Aviation”, activity packs are available to be taken on board flights, including “My First Flight Review”, and an advanced aircraft silhouette guide for young spotters. Cameras can also be rented for a free “Introduction To Aircraft Photography Course”.

It is unclear who the launch customer for the new Airbus A380LC will be when it delivers on April 1st next year.
Simple Flying Lounge: Opening Date & Pricing
The new Simple Flying lounge is slated to open on April 1st, one year… For now, we don’t know exactly which year. When the lounge does open, it will be priced competitively, with pre-booking and discounts available for Simple Flying account holders. In line with our “Kids Get Aviation” initiative, under-12s can access the lounge for free by naming an aircraft type visible through the window.
Free access will be available for all “Lounger Land” passengers flying on Simple Flights, as well as Coral Red and Teal members of the “Simple Flyers” program. Free access will be available on the opening day for all passengers saying the code phrase “Happy April Fools”, where the entire Simple Flying team will be in attendance, signing autographs.
