September 3, 2025 – Ottawa, Ontario – Department of Finance Canada

Today, the Government of Canada concluded its nationwide consultations ahead of Budget 2025, which will set out the federal government’s plan to support Canadians and Canadian businesses during this time of heightened global challenges while building the strongest economy in the G7.

Over the last six weeks, Minister of Finance and National Revenue François-Philippe Champagne, Secretary of State Wayne Long, and Parliamentary Secretaries Ryan Turnbull and Rachel Bendayan, met with stakeholders in 26 cities across the country. Together, they hosted nearly 50 roundtables and 60 bilateral meetings with workers, business leaders, Indigenous communities, unions, innovators, and more – listening directly to the challenges and opportunities shaping Canada’s future.

Discussions touched on internal trade and labour mobility, addressing the impact of U.S. tariffs, advancing digital transformation including through artificial intelligence, manufacturing and innovation, immigration, and affordable housing.

In addition, Canadians from coast to coast to coast made their voice heard through Canada.ca/your budget. Since the survey’s launch on July 14, nearly 84,075 Canadians shared their views. Their input focused on building one strong economy, reducing everyday costs, and bolstering Canada’s defence and security.

The insights gathered through these consultations and online submissions will play a vital role in shaping Budget 2025 and ensuring it reflects the voices and priorities of Canadians.
