The Indianapolis Colts continued to bolster their pass rush by signing free agent defensive end Micheal Clemons. Over the Cap now has Clemons’ contract details and salary cap hits.
The Colts signed Clemons to a three-year deal worth $17 million. This includes $6.99 million guaranteed. $3 million of that guaranteed figure was paid to Clemons in a signing bonus. The salary cap hit from that can be prorated over the life of the three-year deal.

On the fifth day of the 2027 league year, Clemons will earn a $1 million salary guarantee and a $1 million roster bonus if still on the team. On the fifth day of the league year in 2028, Clemons can earn another $1 million in a roster bonus if still on the team.
Micheal Clemons salary cap hits by year with Colts
This is essentially a one-year deal for Clemons with the Colts having a team option for the 2027 and 2028 seasons.
If the Colts were to release Clemons next offseason, they would save $4.38 million in cap space just one year into the deal, incurring a dead cap hit of only $2 million.
If the Colts released Clemons during the 2028 offseason, they would save $5.12 million in cap space.

The only money that the Colts are absolutely on the hook for is the $3 million prorated signing bonus and Clemons’ $2.99 million base salary in 2026. Everything else can be evaluated season to season.
