Pragmata gets a release date change once again, albeit in a good way this time

Somehow, Pragmata was announced almost six whole years ago. Where did those years go? I certainly didn’t allow them to go anywhere! Originally slated for release in 2022, it was eventually delayed into 2023, then indefinitely, before Capcom finally locked in a 2026 release date. Which it will not be making, technically, as while it was originally slated to launch on April 24th, it’ll no longer be doing so… because it’s coming out earlier. Teehee, I fooled you, what a little trickster I am!

This was announced during Capcom’s March Spotlight Showcase, where they showed a trailer full of stuff that looks generally like all the other stuff they’ve shown off about the action shooter. But it then ended with a cheeky bit of paper falling to the ground, much like it did when the indefinite delay was announced, with its release date written across it before a “sorry!” gets added on as the date changed to a week earlier, i.e. April 17th. It’s not much of a shift technically speaking, but hey, at least the trailer editors got to have a bit of fun.

The showcase showing of Pragmata also showed off a designed-to-be-charming-but-I-don’t-trust-this-guy-looking robot called Cabin, a guide you’ll find in a Shelter area. Cabin can, uh, apparently play music which Diana, the little uncanny valley robot child who should still put some shoes on even if she is a robot, will then dance to. Weird!

In any case, when it does launch earlier than expected, I’ll be curious to see how it lands. The Resident Evil studio has been doing quite well for itself in recent years, with all these new and actually liked Resident Evil games, Monster Hunter continues to do well even if Wilds was a bit messy, and there’s even been gambles like the very unique-looking Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess. Time will only tell how Pragmata fares when it’s in our grubby little mitts. Which it will be, just to remind you, a week earlier when it launches on April 17th in just over a month’s time.
