PinkPantheress used her Coachella debut to give one of spring’s new hybrid shoes its clearest stage test yet. For her Saturday set at the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, Calif., the British singer wore Ugg’s new Quill Ballet Sneakers in Red Pepper, turning a just-launched sneaker-flat into a performance shoe and a campaign follow-through in the same weekend.

The”Illegal” singer’s $140 pair brought a ballet-flat outline into sneaker territory, a trend more and more footwear brands are following. She wore the style in bright red suede — the Red Pepper colorway — with a low, close-to-the-ground profile and a pale gum rubber outsole. A raised moc-style seam traced the blunt rounded toe, while thicker stitched panels wrapped the sides and heel. Instead of a standard tongue-and-lace setup, the shoe used thin red cords that crossed over the foot in a ballet-flat pattern, threaded through metal eyelets and tied behind the ankle. Cobalt socks made the bright red flats pop on stage.

PinkPantheress built the rest of the look around that contrast, pairing the red shoes and blue socks with a fitted royal blue blazer, a red-and-blue plaid bralette and dark denim with deep turned cuffs. 

That mix placed her squarely inside the sneakerina lane, but in a version that read more utility-minded than many of the fashion week iterations that have been popping up. Recent celebrity fans of the silhouette, including Bella Hadid and Lola Tung, helped move ballet-sneaker hybrids into wider view, favoring celebrity-favorite Vivaia Sneakerina Flats, while labels such as Wales Bonner and Louis Vuitton also backed the shape on the runway. PinkPantheress’ pair pushed the idea in a rougher direction through suede, exposed seaming and a treaded sole.

The timing also mattered. Ugg launched PinkPantheress as the face of a new social-first campaign just three days before her Coachella debut, placing her in the Quill Ballet Sneaker alongside the Tazz and GoldenGlow Embossed. 

Coachella Weekend 1 opened Friday at Empire Polo Club in Indio and runs through Sunday night before returning April 17 to 19. Along with PinkPantheress, Saturday’s lineup included Justin Bieber as the night’s headliner, with sets from the Strokes, Jack White, Giveon, Taemin, Labrinth and David Byrne across the festival grounds.
