note: i’m including a whole bunch of petitions across multiple categories –including some i have not yet signed (and some i won’t be signing)– to not only show petitions i fully support but also to get feedback on petitions i know less about (or have doubts about), and to point out some certified Bad Takes currently up for signing.

i also will be giving very bare-bones descriptions; click through the link to see the full details

the list has been divided into parts since tumblr doesn’t like so many links all in one post 😔 (four parts in total)

now, the petitions! part 1 includes Health, Disability & Accessibility and 2SLGBTQIA+

note for this part specifically: these petitions include ones relating to Iran, Israel, Gaza, Venezuela, and Cuba. these are therefore issues with a lot of strong emotion around them.

some of the petitions i’m including are those Bad Takes i mentioned in pt.1. i strongly recommend with all of them (and honestly, all the other petitions i’ve listed too) that we pause to take a breath and put our critical thinking caps on; who is saying what, and why are they saying it the way they are? why did this MP agree to sponsor that petition? are the actions being recommended actually a good idea to put into law? if made into law, what unintended precedents are being set?

part of my decision in including the spread of petitions that i am is to spark discussion and knowledge-sharing about what Canada should be doing as a political entity. what a government chooses to make law is different from how individual citizens will act/support. i don’t know if i’m wording myself the best 😐 but i am acting in good faith.

several of these petitions are about issues i’m not fully read up on, so if people more knowledgeable want to weigh in on how the petitions as written would effect a specific issue, please do

if you want to skip this one, very understandable

Part 4: International Issues (+ 1 silly)
