Video games are weird little things. It’s pretty rare for films to get scrapped part way through production, even if these days some production companies opt to use even finished projects as tax write offs. But games can frequently get canned, disappear for a bit, and even return after many years of silence. Enter SiN Reloaded, the Nightdive-made remaster of the classic boomer shooter, that is alive once more!
Back in 2023, Nightdive essentially parked SiN Reloaded due to other projects they were tackling at the time, promising that the remaster wasn’t dead, and that it was just going through some changes. Well, it seems like they’ve now given the game the birds and the bees talk, as they’ve now, uh, announced it once more, which isn’t really how that works given they already did that once, but hey ho, PR is going to PR. Not only has it been announced, but it has a release year: this one! The year of 2026, by my count.

It’s also looking pretty swish! I’ve not played the original SiN myself, but a quick comparison suggests the spirit is certainly there. I’m sure someone could find something to complain about, this world is much too large for any of us to get off scott free there, but the butchering of original material does not appear to be taking place. Plus, you can also opt to play using the original SiN Gold version’s graphics! Even less to complain about.
For those who’ve never played SiN, it’s one of those near-future dystopias where you play a totally cool, badass, macho guy who goes by Blade (not the vampire one) taking on an evil doctor called Elexis Sinclaire (Elexis really seems like a typo) who’s made a DNA-altering drug. “As Blade, you’ve made a religion out of fighting crime. Now you’re going to make Elexis pay for her sins by taking on her unholy army of genetically-engineered mutants,” explains the game’s Steam page.
There’s no exact release date yet, just that 2026 window, but you can always wishlist it on Steam in the meantime.
