New York Giants fire assistant defensive line coach Bryan Cox

The New York Giants continued whittling away at what remains of their coaching staff this week, firing assistant defensive line coach Bryan Cox.

The termination of Cox was done silently and without public acknowledgement. His profile was quietly removed from the team’s official website, and no additional context was provided.

Cox was originally hired in 2022 under then-head coach Brian Daboll, who was actively compiling his first coaching staff at the time.

Cox was a three-time Pro Bowler as a player whose career spanned from 1991 through 2002. He had stints with the Miami Dolphins, Chicago Bears, New York Jets, New England Patriots, and New Orleans Saints. He also won a Super Bowl with the Patriots in 2001.

As an assistant, Cox has coached the defensive line for the Jets, Cleveland, Tampa Bay, and Atlanta, and was the Dolphins’ pass rush coach in 2011.

Although Cox was shown the door, the Giants have seemingly retained defensive line coach Andre Patterson, who has overseen one of the worst run defenses in franchise history.
