Netflix wants to send KPop Demon Hunters on tour

2026 has already been a strong year for KPop Demon Hunters. It recently snatched up two Oscars for Best Animated Feature and Best Original Song, and a sequel has been confirmed recently. In fact, the love for KPop Demon Hunters remains so strong that Netflix is considering sending the film’s fictional K-pop band Huntr/x on a world tour.

The news comes from Bloomberg, which revealed that Netflix is seeking to capitalize on the popularity of the film and its chart-topping songs by “negotiating with concert promoters to stage a live show featuring performances of the songs” from the film.

According to Bloomberg’s source, the tour plans are still “nebulous” because it’s unclear which songs (or performers) would be included. KPop Demon Hunters features two bands: Huntr/x, whose performances are sung by Ejae (Rumi), Audrey Nuna (Mira), and Rei Ami (Zoey), and the Saja Boys, whose singers (Kevin Woo, Andrew Choi, Danny Chung, Neckwav, and SamUIL Lee) have yet to perform live in the same capacity as Huntr/x.

Despite how hazy these plans are, Netflix’s aims are clear: the world tour will seemingly happen next year, ahead of the sequel, KPop Demon Hunters 2, and would stop in a handful of major cities with staged arenas big enough to hold up to 20,000 fans.

Considering how wildly popular the songs, film, and the vocal performers behind Huntr/x are, it’s hard to imagine the tour wouldn’t be a hit. However, performing around the globe isn’t exactly easy, and before last year, Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami had never even performed live together at all. Furthermore, so far, the trio has stuck to “Golden”, which is already an exceedingly difficult song, and preparing to sing it live required rigorous vocal training.

With “Golden” taking so much work to perfect for live performances, the trio would no doubt have to put in the same amount of effort into Huntr/x’s other songs, such as “Takedown,” “How It’s Done,” and “What It Sounds Like.” We don’t doubt that the band is up for the challenge, but the vocal performers behind Huntr/x have been in the limelight ever since the Sony Animation film debuted last year. If Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami are potentially recording new songs for the sequel too, that’s a lot of work for anyone.

Thankfully, there may be a solution. Bloomberg’s sources have stated that while Netflix has discussed bringing the vocal performers of Huntr/x on tour, the company has also been open to virtual performers, such as holograms. A hybrid approach of both for a global tour might be a satisfactory middle ground, as it will allow audiences to enjoy live music with other fans while also giving vocal performers a chance to rest.

Huntr/x has performed on numerous stages, including Jimmy Kimmel and at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. A KPop Demon Hunters world tour is vastly different, but if done right, it has the chance to be a massive entertainment event.

KPop Demon Hunters is available to stream now on Netflix.
