NDP Leader Don Davies demands immediate action on Canada’s deepening jobs crisis « Canada’s NDP

NDP Leader Don Davies issued the following statement:

Today’s jobs report is an alarm bell that must not be ignored. Canada lost 84,000 jobs in February, the steepest single-month drop since the pandemic.

The numbers behind this headline are even more concerning. More than 100,000 full-time jobs were erased in a single month, while private sector employment fell by 73,000 positions. Youth unemployment is skyrocketing.

Donald Trump’s trade war is hitting Canadians hard. But rather than fighting for workers, the Carney Liberals are cutting tens of thousands of family-sustaining jobs and slashing services that Canadians rely on.

New Democrats are calling on the Liberal government to reverse its cuts, stand up to Trump, and deliver a real plan to protect Canadian workers.”
