Minister Anand meets with Oman’s Foreign Minister

September 23, 2025 – New York City, New York – Global Affairs Canada

The Honourable Anita Anand, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, Oman’s Foreign Minister, on the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York City, New York.

In their first in-person meeting, the ministers reflected on more than 50 years of bilateral relations between Canada and Oman and the many shared interests in the areas of international peace and social and economic development. Minister Anand welcomed Oman’s interest in identifying investment opportunities in Canada, including in mining, manufacturing, renewable energy, technology and green industries.

The ministers also expressed their deep concern over the worsening conditions in Gaza, emphasizing the catastrophic humanitarian crisis that has displaced over one million people and caused a devastating and preventable famine, in violation of international law. They agreed on urgent international action to support peace and security in Gaza and the dignity of both Palestinians and Israelis.
