Leonard And Creative Director Georg Lux Part Ways

PARIS — Leonard and creative director Georg Lux are parting ways after almost five years, the French brand said on Monday.

Leonard said it would unveil “the contours of its new artistic direction soon.”

Lux’s final collection for the brand is the pre-fall 2026 collection and the brand will not be staging a show during the upcoming Paris Fashion Week for fall 2026, WWD has learned. Leonard plans to return with a spring 2027 runway in October.

Lux has “brilliantly embodied the spirit of [Leonard], respect for our fundamental codes with creative boldness,” Yuichi Nishi, president of Leonard Paris, said in a statement announcing the designer’s departure.

The executive lauded that Lux’s “artistic sensitivity and deep understanding” resulted in “collections of remarkable elegance.”

“Having the privilege to draw from its heritage, to engage in a dialogue with its legacy, and to contribute my own artistic vision has been an exceptional experience,” Lux commented.

The Paris-based German designer succeeded French designer Christine Phung in January 2021. He remained at the creative helm when the French brand, until then owned by the founding Tribouillard family, was acquired in July 2022 by long-time partner Sankyo Seiko.

Throughout his tenure at Leonard, which included a return to the runway for spring 2023, Lux played with its extensive archive of historic prints mixed in with influences from far-flung destinations, and retro flair.

Leonard’s spring 2026 effort was a tribute to California, full of pastel brights, vivid motifs and vintage silhouettes that harked to the ‘70s.

Lux’s next move could not immediately be learned.
